I started taking lessons from Steve to become a better guitar player. I had sort of self taught myself for some years, but felt like my knowledge and abilities had plateaued so I looked for a local teacher who could help me grow as a musician and found Steve. Steve is an incredible musician and teacher with a vast knowledge of music; the amount of knowledge and techniques he has shared with and taught me over a few years is priceless. He’s always flexible, on time, prepared, and attentive; and always great at communicating. He’s able to do remote lessons as well as live lessons (for those more local). He’s also a really great person. Thanks to Steve, I have become a much better musician. I very highly recommend Steve’s music instruction.

Before I started taking lessons with Steve, I knew a bit of guitar, but had a goal of being able to write my own songs. Through our lessons together, Steve taught me the tools I needed to start creating. These included chord theory, ear training, guitar technique, improvisation, and much more. He was able to help me learn anything that I was curious about, like slide guitar, finger picking, and bass. Steve’s keen musical ear and his expertise in guitar are inspiring. He really knows the guitar inside and out, and got me to gain skills I never imagined I’d learn. I deepened my understanding of music in a way that couldn’t have been achieved from just watching YouTube videos. Steve’s teaching style is patient and relaxed, and he gives you room to develop your own musical voice while sharpening your technique. As a result of working with Steve, I’ve now written several songs that I am happy with, and am equipped to keep creating for the rest of my life. I would recommend him to anyone who is wanting guidance on their guitar journey!

I’ve been a student of Steve’s for quite a while. My wife found him after I picked up the bass as a new hobby following a visual impairment that limited some of my other interests. Steve immediately adapted his teaching style to accommodate my needs, and before long I went from barely being able to tune the instrument to joining a cover band and holding my own with far more experienced musicians. Along the way, Steve has taught me not only a range of songs, but also practice routines, music theory, ear training, gear recommendations, and even how to sing and play at the same time. He keeps the experience fun and always works at my pace, even when other commitments slow me down. Steve is an accomplished instructor, musician, composer, and bandleader with the depth of experience to mentor any aspiring musician. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to grow as a player.

His understanding of music is complete — technique, theory, tone, structure — and he teaches in a patient, encouraging way that keeps you motivated.
