Rachel Bourne Piano Lessons

Rachel is a wonderful piano teacher with a real gift for teaching. She’s patient, encouraging, and knows how to adapt her approach to each student. She taught both my daughter and one of my sons, and they each connected with her in different ways — a testament to her skill and intuition as a teacher. Lessons are structured but fun, and she creates a positive, confidence-building environment. I’ve known Rachel since we were kids, and her love of music and ability to teach it have always been clear. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

My son took piano lessons from Rachel for over 6 years. She is a kind and compassionate and fun teacher. He learned so many skills from her and still loves playing piano to this day. I highly recommend her.

We absolutely ADORE Rachel and her piano teaching style! Of course she teaches the nuts and bolts of piano; reading music, scales, chords and whatnot...but she always infuses FUN as part of the process! Whether the success of mastering a loved piece...or the thrill of improvisation in a duet...she has a way of inspiring the sheer joy of music! We couldn't be more thrilled with the time she spent with our son (and our family) ...and truthfully one of us would likely still be taking lessons, had she not moved to a new area. I have always wanted to learn to read music. Not memorize or play by ear. I’m amazed when I hear musicians and see them play a new piece because they can read it even if they never heard it before. I am retired now and have more time and my doctor told me one of the best things I could do for my mind was learn to read music. Alzheimer’s runs in my family and I’d like to keep it away as long as possible. Rachel has been a musician all her life and she is an amazing teacher. She knows how to lead her students on an understandable path step by step adding in all the complexities a little at a time. She makes it fun and varies the music and gives a lot of freedom to play what interests each person. She has taught my grandchildren, she loves teaching children, and now she is teaching me. She teaches all ages, and is an exceptional teacher. I am so grateful for the way she has brought music into my life.
