I've lived here in RENO for almost 20 years. And I'm still a humble 'local in training'!! It takes alot of time and patience to learn the ropes around here!! One of things I learned, besides great places to eat, where to get a great haircut and many other important things about living here, is who to go to when you need help buying jewelry or selling it! I was referred by a local to Michael & Son's Jewelry in Midtown. From the first time I went in the door, David and his amazing staff became MY jeweler! They are friendly, very knowledgeable, patient, and have the most extensive background on gemstones and design I've come across!! And they can fix your most precious, broken pieces so they look new! I cannot say enough about them because I do so love my jewelry!! And getting more of it from them! And they love jewelry, too! You will love them!! Their address is: 1401 S. Virginia!

We have had wonderful experiences at Michael and Sons. Katie was very patient, helpful and knowledgeable when it came time to buy my wedding band. They can help design the ring you dream of and were affordable too! I also had a custom ring made repurposing my grandmothers pin and it turned out beautifully. I trust this company and drive from Sacramento to shop.
The staff at Michael & Son's are always so friendly and educated. You can tell they truly love what they do and spend the time to ensure all customers have a great experience. Morgan has been very helpful with designing a custom ring, explaining all the steps along the way. She has remained transparent on pricing and helping me figure out what is within my budget. Outside of custom jewelry, I have been zapped multiple times and love the permanent bracelet options. I highly recommend Michael & Son's for anyone's jewelry needs!!
This past summer I had my late grandma’s diamonds custom made into a diamond band and I absolutely love how it turned out! The attention to detail throughout the whole process was incredibly appreciated as I live in San Francisco and was unable to visit the store for each step. Morgan was my main point of contact and made me feel like my opinions were always heard and valued. I can’t wait to get my next custom piece made with them!
We were honestly pretty disappointed with our experience at Michael & Sons Jewelry. My mom originally purchased a platinum and diamond ring from them for around $2,000, and recently she needed to sell it because she’s currently in the hospital and needed some financial help. When we brought the ring back to Michael & Sons, we were surprised to be offered only $500–$600, and even that offer seemed conditional—it sounded like they would only consider buying it if the woman’s father was present. Otherwise, we were basically told they weren’t really looking to buy jewelry and were encouraged to go somewhere else. That felt frustrating, especially considering the ring was purchased from them in the first place. On top of that, they also declined to buy a real Tiffany & Co. silver bracelet and a real Tiffany silver ring, both authentic and in immaculate condition. Again, we were turned away and told they weren’t interested. We ultimately had to take everything to Reno Gold Exchange, where we were actually helped. Another thing that caught me off guard was that they do not work with or even look at teeth grillz at all. I’ve never been to a jewelry store that flat-out refuses to address that kind of jewelry, so that was surprising and disappointing as well. I don’t hate this place, and I’m not saying they’re bad people—but the overall experience felt dismissive and unhelpful, especially given the circumstances. If you’re looking to sell jewelry or need flexibility and understanding, this may not be the right place. Unfortunately, we left feeling let down.
