Break out the lederhosen, stretch those brat-eating muscles and get ready to hoist a stein McKinney Oktoberfest returns to downtown McKinney Sept. 25–27, bringing one of the city's annual fall traditions back to the historic downtown district. The festival is free to attend and will feature German music, dancing, traditional costumes, food and drinks, children's activities and a lineup of events ranging from dachshund races to a beer stein-holding competition. Oktoberfest takes place at Downtown McKinney, 111 N. Tennessee St. Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Three Days Of Food, Music And Festivities McKinney Oktoberfest is a family-friendly celebration, with plenty happening beyond the beer garden. Festival-goers can listen to German music, watch traditional dancing and costumes, grab a bite and take part in activities throughout the weekend. Admission to the festival grounds is free, although some activities and specialty areas require tickets or registration. For adults looking for a more exclusive experience, the Blue Box VIP Biergarten offers a 21-and-over space with craft beer, food, live beer hall-style music and private restrooms.
