Bettendorf hosting workshop on I-80, Middle Road area
By Sharon Wren,
14 hours agoThe City of Bettendorf and its planning consultant, IMEG, invite residents, business owners, property owners and others to help shape the future of the I-80/Middle Road area at a public workshop on Thursday, November 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Iron Tee, 6909 Iron Tee Way in Bettendorf. The doors will open at 5 p.m. so early arrivals can meet and speak one-on-one with the planning team. The workshop will start at 6 p.m. with a presentation.
The workshop is part of a recently launched master planning process for the area north of Interstate 80 near Middle Road. The city's Comprehensive Plan identifies this area as an important opportunity for future growth, envisioning a mix of residential, commercial, employment and open space uses. Recent investments in sanitary sewer infrastructure will help support future development in the area.
The city is currently developing a master plan to establish a coordinated vision for future land use, transportation, infrastructure and development. The plan will explore opportunities to create a vibrant, connected and sustainable area that accommodates future growth and reflects community priorities and long-term needs.
Community participation will play an important role in shaping the master plan. The November 5 workshop will give participants an opportunity to learn about the planning process, share ideas and priorities and help establish a vision and goals for the future of the I-80/Middle Road area.
The city has launched an online community survey to gather input on the area's future. The survey will be open through the end of 2026 and all interested residents are encouraged to participate, whether or not they attend the workshop. Click here to take the survey.
The master planning process will continue into 2027 and community input will help guide the preparation of the plan and its recommendations for future development, infrastructure and public improvements. Contact Mark Hunt in the City's Planning Division at 563-344-4083 or mhunt@bettendorf.org for more information about the workshop or the master planning process.

Tropical Storm Rachel Expected to Impact Southern California and Surrounding States | Complex Setup
Once again, the setup remains to be very complex, so it is no surprise that the track remains difficult to pin down with now almost two areas of shift possible. A cutoff low, an upper level trough, and what remains of Rachel all have to interact, with their timing and positioning playing a major role in how this unfolds. Even small changes could shift where the deepest moisture moves, where the lifting mechanism is, where thunderstorms develop, and which areas receive the heaviest rainfall. That is why individual model runs can show noticeably different outcomes. Confidence should improve as these features evolve, but the exact track and rainfall totals still have room to change still.
