About Ted Nugent

Nugent started “beating on my first guitar” around the age of five. Strongly influenced by Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, he knew he wanted to pursue that type of sound and attitude.

Early bands paved the way for the Amboy Dukes, and it was a feisty cover of the Dukes’ psychedelic "Journey to the Center of the Mind" that kicked Nugent's career into hyper drive.
The axe maniac broke out as a solo artist, signing with the legendary Epic Records, where the guitarist’s talent, volume and over-the-top stage antics quickly earned him the moniker of Motor City Madman.

Cranking out hits like "Cat Scratch Fever," "Just What the Doctor Ordered," "Free for All" and the iconic "Stranglehold," Nugent has garnered international acclaim earned a permanent place in rock & roll history as the ultimate guitar-shredding showman, selling more than 40 million albums and performing over 6,900 high-octane live shows.

Nugent is the national spokesperson for Hunter Nation, and founded the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids in 1989. Nugent has been recognized for his work with big Brothers Big Sisters and the Pass It On Outdoor Mentors Program. He is an ambassador for Exodus Place, advancing the goal of “zero veteran homelessness in Michigan” and works with Operation Finally Home to provide quality, mortgage-free housing for wounded and disabled veterans.
