Iowa’s Cael Winter discusses the Cy-Hawk rivalry
By Evan Denton,
10 hours agoThe Cy-Hawk game between Iowa and Iowa State is a matchup the state of Iowa waits for each year.
In this year's game, there are 64 Iowans on the two rosters combined.
One of them is Cael Winter, Iowa's center. He's a Des Moines native who grew up in the thick of the rivalry. On top of that, the Hawkeye had an interesting viewpoint of the rivalry within his parents' home.
"Both my parents graduated from Iowa State so I kind of was forced into being an Iowa State fan growing up," Winter said. "Then I'd always watch the games and I'd see that Iowa always had the best linemen so I always told my parents I'd want to play for Iowa if I got the chance. They made a pretty smooth transition, and they're all in for the Hawks now."
