Muscatine housing leader recognized for expanding affordable housing

6 hours agoA Muscatine housing leader is being recognized for her work expanding affordable housing.
Charla Schafer is president of the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine. Schafer received the 2026 Kay Anderson Friend of Iowa Award.
According to a Facebook post by the Iowa Finance Authority:
Charla has made housing availability and affordability a priority, bringing public, private and community partners together to develop solutions for Muscatine and rural communities across Iowa.
Her leadership has helped advance new approaches to construction and attainable homeownership — demonstrating the difference committed local leadership can make for Iowa families and communities.
The award was presented at the 2026 HousingIowa Conference in Des Moines.

Zaden Alexander McKnight has been missing from Dayton, Ohio (Montgomery County), since March 25, 2014, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). His photo above (right) is an age-progressed likeness of how he might have appeared at 8-years-old, though he would now be 17 if alive.
