Silver Creek Development, LLC, in partnership with the DeWitt Chamber & Development Company (DCDC), invites community members, local leaders, and members of the media to celebrate the groundbreaking of The Trails at Silver Creek, a new residential neighborhood in southwest DeWitt, a news release says.

Representatives from Silver Creek Development, DCDC, local government, and community partners are expected to participate in the ceremony. After brief remarks, attendees will gather for a ceremonial groundbreaking. The public is welcome to the groundbreaking at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the intersection of 4th Street and 15th Avenue. It will be hosted by Silver Creek Development, LLC and DeWitt Chamber & Development Company(DCDC.)

The neighborhood provides direct access to Westbrook Park's trail system and is designed to blend natural beauty, recreation, and quality residential living. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at The Trails at Silver Creek development site in DeWitt.

This project represents a locally led investment in DeWitt's future, creating new housing opportunities while expanding the community's connection to outdoor recreation and
neighborhood living. The development features 17 single-family residential lots, ranging from
0.25 to 0.5 acres, many with direct trail access and future water-view opportunities.

"DeWitt is a community with tremendous momentum and a strong future. The demand for housing is real, and it's clear that people aren't just looking to visit DeWitt; they want to build their lives here," said Julia Campbell Looney, director of operations of The Trails At Silver Creek.

"We believe this development will provide much-needed, single-family housing opportunities for families at different stages of life while contributing to the continued growth and success of the community. Our family appreciates the City of DeWitt’s collaborative approach and is proud to be part of DeWitt's future.”

The project reflects ongoing efforts to address housing demand in eastern Iowa and reinforce
DeWitt's desirability as a place to live, work, and raise a family. Located about 25 minutes north of the Quad Cities, DeWitt offers a highly regarded school district, extensive recreational amenities, a thriving industrial park, and a vibrant downtown business community.

"Housing is one of the most important drivers of a community's long-term vitality," said Angela
Rheingans, president of the DeWitt Chamber & Development Company (DCDC). "When businesses are looking to expand or recruit employees, one of the first questions they ask is
whether quality housing is available. The continued demand we've seen, even after nearly 90
new residential units have been added over the last three years, demonstrates that DeWitt
remains an incredibly desirable place to live.

"Our excellent schools, outstanding quality of life, thriving business community, and welcoming atmosphere continue to attract new residents. We're especially encouraged to see a local business owner step forward to invest in DeWitt through the development of new single-family housing. That level of confidence sends a strong message about our community's future and reinforces what many of us already know: That DeWitt is a community where people want to put down roots. Expanding housing options supports economic development, helps local employers attract and retain talent, strengthens our tax base, and ensures our community continues to grow in a thoughtful and sustainable way. The DCDC fully supports efforts to bring additional single-family housing to DeWitt and welcomes partners who share that vision."
