8 people, dog displaced after Moline fire

Eight people and a dog were displaced after a fire in Moline this morning, according to a news release from the Moline Fire Department.
Moline firefighters were dispatched to the 3700 block of 3706 Pine Ridge Court for a report of a fire on September 2 at about 7:46 a.m. They arrived on scene about five minutes later and reported a large, three-story multi-family residential structure with no smoke visible from the exterior. Firefighters found light smoke conditions on the second floor when they entered the building.
Crews immediately began investigating the source of the smoke while helping evacuate the building. Many occupants safely exited on their own and others were assisted by Moline Fire personnel.
Firefighters found a fire in the attic area of the building and quickly extinguished it. The incident was brought under control in about 30 minutes. No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. Seven adults, one child and a dog were displaced from the building. The American Red Cross is assisting the affected families with their immediate needs. Working smoke alarms were present in the complex and activated during the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Moline Fire Department Bureau of Investigations. Anyone who may have information about the fire is asked to contact the Moline Fire Department at 309-524-2250.

7-Eleven clerk revives three overdosed customers
A 7-Eleven clerk in Denver has resuscitated three customers with Narcan in the past few months, and one of the rescues was witnessed by this reporter. Arica Crowley works in the 7-Eleven across from Quebec Square. She said she didn’t sign up to save lives when she applied at the retailer but doesn’t mind the extra duty. She said what disappoints her most is that many people, when revived, become angry and storm off without accepting further help. Coming out of the high with Narcan has been described as a hellacious experience.
