Davenport sued over redacted city administrator resume
By Sharon Wren,
18 hours agoA local doctor is suing the City of Davenport over city administrator Tim Gleason’s resume.
Michael Meloy, attorney for Dr. Allan Diercks, said the resume was heavily redacted, keeping important details from the public. He says the redactions made the resume unreadable. The lawsuit filing noted that Gleason did not request his resume be kept confidential when he submitted it to the mayor and city council for the city administrator position.
The lawsuit says Dr. Diercks sought cover letters and resumes from applicants for the city administrator position. On February 4, Dr. Diercks made a Chapter 22 Freedom of Information Request (FOIA), asking for applications, attachments and resumes submitted to the City of Davenport Special Committee for the Davenport City Administrator position.
“As City Administrator, my goal from day one has been to work diligently to hear people’s concerns and rebuild the community’s trust in the City of Davenport," Gleason told Our Quad Cities News in a statement. "My resume dated up to my time in Davenport was released publicly in the September 17, 2025, Committee of the Whole and September 24, 2025, City Council meeting agenda packets.”
The lawsuit asked the court to enter an order declaring Gleason’s resume as public record, produce records without redactions and conduct an in-camera inspection to se if there is any confidentiality in Gleason’s resume.
The suit was filed on Aug. 11 and no further court appearances have been scheduled.
