Illinois bill for medically-assisted death passes

A bill to legalize medically-assisted death passed in Illinois.
The bill, ‘Deb’s Law’ (End-of-Life Options for Terminally Ill Patients Act – SB 1950, is named after 65-year-old terminal cancer patient Deb Robertson from Illinois. The bill would let patients pursue medical assistance to die if they’re a terminal patient confirmed by two separate doctors.
The patients have to then wait five days after asking for the medication.
The patient would be disqualified during the waiting period if doctors suspect the patient’s condition improved, or if the patient is being coerced into dying. The medication could be provided if doctors determine the patient is still of sound mind.
The ACLU of Illinois worked with Robertson for years supporting the bill.
