Excel Martial Arts Academy Celebrates Grand Opening in Livingston

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Excel Martial Arts Academy—a new martial arts school in Livingston with a focus on physical and emotional development for kids ages five to 12—celebrated its grand opening at The Shoppes at Livingston Circle on Thursday with a commemorative ribbon cutting, where members of the Livingston Township Council and Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed owner Hany Tawfick and his team to the community.

Tawfick, known to his students as “Sensei Hany,” officially opened Excel Martial Arts Academy in November and was enthusiastic about seeing his vision come to life, the early success of his local business and the support of the community over the last few months.

“The main priority for us is to create a good culture in the community and to make sure that we dig our roots nice and deep,” said Tawfick. “For us, we're not really so focused on growing as fast as possible to pack the school and make it impersonal. It’s a slow, steady growth and, ultimately, we're creating a really good culture here where parents appreciate what we're doing with the martial arts. The kicking and punching is easy. It's more about the character-development program that we specialize in, where we're teaching kids and making them more confident and more focused—and that's a byproduct of good martial arts at the end of the day.”

With programs like Little Dragons for children ages five to seven and Karate Kids for children ages eight to 12, Excel Martial Arts Academy aims to create a contagious positive atmosphere for both students and their parents while also improving the physical prowess and the mental and emotional well-being of its participants.

Even for kids who are not naturally athletic, the atmosphere at Excel Martial Arts Academy is fun, inclusive and accommodating every step of the way while also maintaining a high standard of programming that helps local youth gain flexibility, agility and strength, according to its website.
