Would-be robber shot mid-grand theft auto by Mississippi woman: Police

An Arkansas man was left in critical condition after he was shot by the person he was allegedly attempting to rob.

Markevious King, 37, was identified by Little Rock police as having suffered a gunshot wound at the Market Avenue parking deck on Memorial Day. At about noon, King approached Eva Garmendia, 25, of Mississippi, after he attacked the man who was with her as he loaded the vehicle, according to police. King punched the man from behind, according to the incident report, before he entered Garmendia’s vehicle and punched her as she sat in the front passenger seat.

Garmendia was there with two children in the backseat. She shot King, according to authorities, striking him in the head and neck area, and subsequently called the police.

When police arrived, they found the vehicle still on the deck with King collapsed just outside the car on the driver’s side. Arriving officers administered medical help.

King was taken to the hospital according to police and per the department’s last update remains in critical condition while in custody.
