Meeker Area Ministries Continues to Provide Housing to the Homeless in Meeker County
Meeker Area Ministries is continuing its mission of providing housing to homeless people in Meeker County and helping them transition into permanent housing. Any donations to the organization may be sent to Post Office Box 192 in Litchfield.
Rochelle Brummond from United Community Action Partnership is on the MAM board of directors and serves as a case manager. She says their annual meeting is coming up on June 20th at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield and anyone is welcome to attend.
Brummond says they’ve served about 250 families with around 400 children since they started in 2010 and the 4-plex that they operate and two motel rooms are always full. She says she works with the clients on goal-setting and accountability and 76% of their clients leave for permanent housing.
Brummond says someone purchased their apartment complex about a year ago so it’s now theirs and they are in the process of remodeling the units. She says Meeker Area Ministries gets a lot of support from the community and it’s a real team effort. For more information, call 693-7911.
