Western Connecticut hit with flooding
Conn. (WFSB) - Rain has been pouring down on people all day in Litchfield, Fairfield and New Haven counties. The flooding has caused the Housatonic River to swell. “Really torrential water coming down so I figured I’d come over to take a look,” said Alan Nelson, who came to watch the river.
Heavy Rainfall and Potential Flooding Expected Today in Western and Central Connecticut, Residents Urged to Stay Alert
A coastal storm is forecasted to bring significant rainfall to western and central Connecticut today. Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield counties have flood watches in place until Saturday morning. The storm is advancing slowly from the south, with Fairfield county currently experiencing the most intense rainfall. The National Weather Service has issued Flash Flood Warnings for western Long Island and New York City, and Fairfield county may also receive a warning soon.

17-Year-Old New Milford HS Student Killed, 2 Critical Following 3-Vehicle Crash
The incident took place in Litchfield County around 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22 in New Milford on Danbury Road (Route 7) in front of Italia Mia restaurant. An investigation found that a 2006 Infiniti G35 was traveling north on Route 7 in the right lane and a 2022 Hyundai Tucson was attempting to turn left into Italia Mia from the left southbound lane, said Lt. Lee Grabner of the New Milford Police.
