FAA investigating near miss on runway between a plane and airport emergency vehicle at BWI

LINTHICUM, Md. (7News) —
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating another near miss on an airport runway -- this time at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The incident happened at the airport located in Linthicum, Maryland on January 12, 2023, according to the FAA.
An airport emergency vehicle crossed Runway 15 without authorization just as a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 took off, the FAA reports.
The plane luckily got off the ground before it reached the point where the vehicle was crossing the runway. The FAA estimated that the vehicle was about 170 feet past the runway when the plane flew over the intersection.
