ROSWELL, N.M. — A dust advisory is in effect for Roswell and parts of Chaves and Roosevelt Counties on Monday, April 1. Blowing dust was reported near Roswell around 1:30 p.m., with blowing dust reported at 35 to 45 mph. The advisory will stay in effect until 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

According to DPS's initial investigation, 19-year-old Maria De Guadalupe Barraza was driving a 2016 Ford Mustang north on Farm to Market Road 1780, approximately 10 miles southwest of Sundown at 2:36 a.m. with clear and dry conditions.
