Dallas County Sheriff’s Report May 30

Judy Rumery of Pella was traveling westbound on U.S. Interstate 80 near the 113 mile marker when her vehicle collided with a semi-tractor trailer, driven by Uri Igolkin of Aurora, Colorado. No injuries were reported. Damage to Rumery’s vehicle was estimated at $7,000, and damage to Igolkin’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

Sheffield of 1420 Paul St., Perry, collided with a 2013 Chevy Malibu, registered to Loretta Jean Grant and driven by Richard John Grant of 2010 Fifth St., Perry. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $650.
Reminder of Click It or Ticket Through Sunday
Guthrie County Roads have been seeing increased law enforcement traffic in recent weeks. Iowa State Patrol Trooper Shelby McCreedy says this is because law enforcement entities across the state, including the Iowa State Patrol have joined the National Safety Bureau’s “Click it or Ticket” campaign, which finishes on Sunday. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they want to make sure everyone is safe.

Fire Destroys Structure on Wednesday in Perry
There was structure fire in Perry Wednesday evening. According to the Perry Police Department Dispatch, they responded to the scene 5:09pm at 1624 West Third Street. The fire involved an attached garage and vehicle, along with the home at 1624 West Third Street and there is some damage to a nearby home at 911 Dewey Street.
Car, truck collide on Willis Avenue by Fareway Monday
A car and a pickup truck collided in the 1300 block of Willis Avenue early Monday afternoon. The Dallas County EMS responded to treat reported injuries. It is unknown at this hour whether any victims were transported. The collision occurred about 12:30 p.m. Both vehicles appeared to sustain front-end damages.

Perry Fire Department Reminds Residents of Safety Protocols for Controlled Burning
The Perry Fire Department is reminding those wanting to do a controlled burn of some safety and courtesy protocols to take. Perry Fire Chief Grason Hill says that before someone considers to take a controlled burn they must first judge the weather conditions. Hill states that high winds above seven miles per hour, humidity under 50-percent and hot temperatures can turn a normal fire into a disaster. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that people need to alert the authorities and neighbors if they plan to have a controlled burn.

Warning from Guthrie County Recorder, Scam Letter Circulating the State
Guthrie County Recorder Tristen Richard recently announced that a scam letter has been circulating in Iowa. According to Richard, the initial report of the scam letter occurred in Webster County. She says the letter claims to be from “County Deed Records,” and gives false information about the expiration date of the recipient’s home warranty. It also contains a “renewal fee voucher” that resembles a check, and asks for immediate action from the homeowner, lest they be left vulnerable to repair costs.

(Dallas Center) One man was killed, and another suffered injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Dallas County.
