LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol cracked down on seat belt violations and impaired driving during its Click It or Ticket campaign.

From May 15 through Sunday, troopers across the state arrested 65 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence.

During that time frame, troopers also issued over 100 citations for seat belt and child safety seat violations, according to a press release.

“Nebraska roadways have had a busy start to summer,” Col. John Bolduc, the patrol’s superintendent, said in the release. “Our troopers were also busy over the last three weeks, working to help start the summer travel season safely across Nebraska.”

The patrol said troopers issued 1,587 speeding citations, including 65 tickets for going over 100 mph.

“Summer is just getting started and safe travel will be a key to making great memories on your summer road trips,” Bolduc said. “No matter where the road takes you this summer, wear your seat belt, always drive sober, put your phone down, and have a safe trip.”
