Nebraska Football Shocker? KJ Bolden had inside info on Dylan Raiola commit

Nebraska football fans might have been holding out hope for quite a bit longer than they should have on Dylan Raiola if a top prospect is telling the truth.

Some Nebraska football fans (and members of the media) thought that the Huskers had a real shot of landing Dylan Raiola this spring. There were even some who thought they would land him in early spring.

There was also hope held out that even when it seemed like the Georgia Bulldogs were the new frontrunners, Raiola might take an official visit to Lincoln later this month. However, it appears the 5-star quarterback knew how to keep things close to his vest better than anyone realized. If KJ Bolden can be believed, at least.

The 5-star safety dropped a bit of a bomb over the weekend. He told On3 that Dylan Raiola was recruiting him to Georgia long before anyone knew that was definitely where he was heading. In fact, if Bolden’s timeline is true, it means that the Nebraska football team lost out on their top quarterback target much earlier than anyone realized.

Nebraska football dangled on the line too long?

Back in early March, recruiting experts all over the country suddenly believed that Raiola had jumped USC to the front of the line after looking like he might be a pending Nebraska football commit. However, Bolden says that the Trojans were never really in the lead.

Bolden claims that when the quarterback was rumored to be favoring USC, he was already committed to Georgia. He was even doing some peer recruiting.

"“He told me like, ‘oh no, I’m not going there, I’m going to Georgia'”"

To be clear, by the time March and April rolled around, it felt as though the Nebraska football team had some ground to make up. However, Raiola certainly didn’t seem like he was gone completely.

At the time when USC became the favorite, it had only been a couple of weeks since the quarterback paid an unofficial visit to the Huskers, took in a basketball game and acted the part of a Cornhuskers fan.

He also had a glowing review of the fans and the coaching staff when he talked to the media after that visit. But it seems as though he either committed to Georgia not long after the visit or was already a Bulldog when he hit Lincoln.

At this point, it’s all a done deal. Nebraska football has moved onto Daniel Kaelin. However, it’s still a bit annoying to think the Huskers were involved in some kind of game or deception to that level.
