I COULD SEE YOU. THANKS. WE’RE LEARNING MORE ABOUT A DOUBLE HOMICIDE IN SOUTHEAST LINCOLN. POLICE SAY A WOMAN RAN OVER TWO PEOPLE ON PURPOSE. WE BROUGHT YOU THE BREAKING NEWS. POLICE HAVEN’T IDENTIFIED THE DRIVER YET, BUT THEY SAY THE 27 YEAR OLD WOMAN WILL FACE MURDER CHARGES. THE TWO MEN DIED AT THE SCENE THIS AFTERNOON AND PEOPLE WHO LIVE AT THE APARTMENTS ARE DEVASTATED. EVIDENCE MARKERS COVER THE GRASS NEAR THE PARKING LOT OF THE LODGE APARTMENTS. ALONG WITH A CAR, BUMPER SHOES AND OTHER DEBRIS NEARBY, A CAR MISSING ITS BUMPER WITH A SMASHED WINDSHIELD. THIS MAKES MY HEART JUST WANT A BREAK AND JUST CRY. LINCOLN POLICE SAY THIS IS WHERE TWO MEN IN THEIR FORTIES DIED MONDAY AFTER THEY WERE RUN OVER BY A CAR. APPEARS TO HAVE PURPOSELY LOCATED THE VICTIMS IN A GRASSY AREA WHERE THE PARK IN THE PARKING LOT LOCATION STRIKING THEM BOTH WITH THEIR VEHICLE. LINCOLN POLICE CHIEF THERESA UN SAYS THE DRIVER IS A 27 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO LIVED HERE. SHE’S IN CUSTODY AND FACING TWO COUNTS OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER. U.N. SAYS THE OFFICERS ARRESTED HER NEARBY ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST CALL FOR HELP. ONE WOMAN WHO LIVES HERE SAYS SHE SAW THE ARREST. SHE GOT BACK IN WHEN THE APPLE CAME BY. THEN SHE CAME RIGHT DOWN THAT PART. THEY TOLD HER TO GET OUT AND TOOK HER IN THE CUSTODY. POLICE SAY THEY HAVE VIDEO OF THE CRIME ITSELF. THEY’RE STILL LOOKING FOR EVIDENCE AND A MOTIVE. COLLECTING AS MUCH VIDEO AS WE CAN FROM THE AREA. LOOKING INTO THE HISTORY OF THE SUSPECT AND ALSO WITNESSES. I MEAN, OBVIOUSLY, THERE ARE A LOT OF WITNESSES TO THE INCIDENT. Lincoln police are investigating the death of two pedestrians Monday afternoon as a double homicide.Around 1:22 p.m., officers responded to the incident near The Lodge Apartments, located near South 48th Street and Old Cheney Road, according to Lincoln police.Authorities said a 27-year-old woman allegedly "purposely located" the victims, who were identified as two men in their 40s, in a grassy area and hit both of them with her vehicle.The two men were pronounced dead at the scene, Lincoln police said.The woman was taken into custody for two counts of second-degree murder around 1:32 p.m. without incident, according to Lincoln police. One woman who lives nearby says she saw the arrest. "She got back in when the ambulance came by. Then she came right down the aisle part. They told her to get out and took her into custody," said Courtney Kochner. Police say they have video of the crime itself.They're still looking for evidence and a motive. "Collecting as much videos we can from the area, looking into the history of the suspect and also witnesses. I mean, obviously, there were a lot of witnesses to the incident," said Lincoln Police Chief Teresa Ewins. Lincoln police said the victims will be identified after next of kin have been contacted.Authorities are not identifying the woman arrested at this time.The incident is still under investigation.
