Lincoln police investigating death of 2 men at apartment complex as double homicide
Lincoln police are investigating the death of two pedestrians Monday afternoon as a double homicide.
Around 1:22 p.m., officers responded to the incident near The Lodge Apartments, located near South 48th Street and Old Cheney Road, according to Lincoln police.
Authorities said a 27-year-old woman allegedly "purposely located" the victims, who were identified as two men in their 40s, in a grassy area and hit both of them with her vehicle.
The two men were pronounced dead at the scene, Lincoln police said.
The woman was taken into custody for two counts of second-degree murder around 1:32 p.m. without incident, according to Lincoln police.
One woman who lives nearby says she saw the arrest.
"She got back in when the ambulance came by. Then she came right down the aisle part. They told her to get out and took her into custody," said Courtney Kochner.
Police say they have video of the crime itself.
They're still looking for evidence and a motive.
"Collecting as much videos we can from the area, looking into the history of the suspect and also witnesses. I mean, obviously, there were a lot of witnesses to the incident," said Lincoln Police Chief Teresa Ewins.
Lincoln police said the victims will be identified after next of kin have been contacted.
Authorities are not identifying the woman arrested at this time.
The incident is still under investigation.
