Multiple arrests made in Nebraska drug investigations

Suspect Arrested

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A task force arrested several people on drug charges Wednesday morning in Nebraska and Kansas.

The CODE Task force obtained arrest warrants for several people in connection with drug investigations in Dawson County, the Nebraska State Patrol said.

The following were arrested on Wednesday:

  • Brianna Pena, 35, was arrested in Lexington on suspicion of distribution of meth and conspiracy to commit unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
  • Shelby Irish, 31, was arrested in Oberlin, Kansas, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to commit unlawful distribution of meth.
  • Christopher Twohig, 44, was arrested in Cozad on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession with intent to distribute meth and being a habitual criminal.
  • Luis Valdez, 26, was arrested in Broken Bow on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute meth.

There were two people who were already incarcerated but given additional charges on Wednesday:

  • Luis Lazo-Escobar, 31, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute meth, possession of meth within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
  • Eric Valtierra, 29, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute meth.

The task force was assisted by the state patrol, the Lexington Police Department, the Dawson County Sheriff’s Department, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office in Kansas and the FBI.
