Jerome County Prosecutor released from Oregon jail

LINCOLN CITY, Oregon (KMVT/KSVT) — (UPDATE) The Jerome County prosecuting attorney who is facing domestic violence charges in Oregon has just been released from jail.

Per a conversation Tuesday with Jerome County Commissioner, Charles Howell, Brad Calbo is making his way back to Idaho after being in jail in Lincoln County, Oregon since June 4.

According to court records, Calbo is on conditional release, he is not allowed to contact the alleged victim via her home or place of employment.

The 54-year-old faces two felony charges, coercion and strangulation, plus a pair of misdemeanor charges in assault in the fourth degree and menacing, following an alleged incident while on vacation in Lincoln City.

Commissioner Howell doesn’t know when Calbo will be back handling cases for the county of Jerome, but Calbo is still being paid.

When it comes to the prosecutor’s personal legal proceedings, there’s an early resolution conference scheduled for August 14.

(ORIGINAL STORY) The Jerome County Prosecutor is behind bars in Oregon on domestic violence related charges.

Christopher Bradley Calbo faces felony strangulation and coercion charges, plus misdemeanor assault in the fourth degree and menacing.

The 54-year-old was arrested on June 4 while on vacation in Lincoln City, Oregon.

According to court records, the victim reported Calbo strangled her with his hands and she could not breathe for 10 seconds. In an audio recording obtained by police, the officer claims to hear Calbo say “I should kill you” or similar phrases, as documented in court filings.

We spoke with Jerome County Commissioner Charles Howell who told KMVT that Calbo’s office will be handling his cases while he is away.

Calbo is due back in Lincoln County Court for a preliminary hearing on the 12th.

His bail is set at $500,000.
