COLUMBUS — Columbus Grove's Trenton Barraza helped his team to a berth in the Division VI state semi-finals this season. On Monday, the Bulldog junior picked up all-Ohio honors for his play on the gridiron this season with first team Division VI all-Ohio honors in voting done by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.. All-Ohio teams were released for Division VI and VII on Monday by the OHSAA.

FORT JENNINGS — The Musketeers encountered a formidable opening weekend, achieving a balanced 1-1 split. They faced a setback against Arlington (76-57), but rebounded with a triumphant victory over Ada (73-56). On Friday night, the atmosphere at “The Fort” was charged as the North Central Eagles (1-0) entered, riding high on the momentum from their Thursday night win at Hilltop (71-47). ELIDA — Columbus Grove hit 11 three-pointers Thursday night as the Bulldogs opened the season with a 68-47 win over Elida. Columbus Grove was 11-of-26 shooting three-pointers as junior Lauryn Auchmuty led the way with four three-pointers made and Jade Siefker hit three three-pointers. Five different players knocked down a three-pointer in the game.

Jefferson bowling starts season
DELPHOS — The Delphos Jefferson Club Bowling team kicked off their 2023-24 season this past week with a bowling match against Bath. Leading the Wildcats were senior bowlers Tyler Wilkins and Ashton Milligan. Wilkins had a strong showing as he bowled a 231. Milligan followed suit as he bowled 11 of 12 strikes to get a score of 280. Unfortunately, the team came up shy of beating Bath in this opening match.

ADA – The young and inexperienced Ada boys basketball team tipped off its season with a close 48-41 loss to visiting county rival Ridgemont Friday night. The Bulldogs played well, but a lapse in the third period proved to be the difference.

DELPHOS — The Delphos Jefferson girls' basketball team used stellar shooting and rebounding to knock off invading Antwerp 63-32 Tuesday evening at Jefferson High School. The Lady Wildcats (4-0) canned 23 of 41 shots (7 of 14 long range) for 56.1% and outrebounded the Lady Archers (2-1) 38-16 (12-4 offensive).
