LIBERAL, Kan. – Three Seward County Baseball student-athletes have chosen where they will continue their academic and athletic career as Aidan Moore, Connor Cox and Elijah Bear have all signed on to their four-year schools.
First, we have starting pitcher Aidan Moore who has signed with Lubbock Christian University, an NCAA Division II school in the Lone Star Conference. Moore is coming off of his sophomore campaign for the Saints’ team that made it to Wichita for the Region VI/Plains District tournament. Moore finishes his career with the Saints after 31 appearances with 13 starts, amassing a 7-6 record in 91.1 innings pitched. In those 91 innings Moore tallied 68 strikeouts allowing 74 earned runs for a 7.29 career ERA. Aidan not only gets to continue his academic and athletic career, but he will now head closer to his hometown of Nazareth, TX.
Connor Cox, an outfielder for the Saints is signing with the University of Central Oklahoma an NCAA Division II school after he finished his Saints’ career with a career .335 batting average. Cox saw action in 83 career games for the Saints while coming to the plate for 230 at-bats. In those 230 at-bats Connor recorded 77 hits with 30 of those going for extra bases. Connor’s sophomore campaign was his best as he hit .371 from the plate with an on base percentage of .471 while recording 96 putouts and 6 assists from the field. Connor, a Wichita Falls, TX native will now head to Edmond, OK to continue his academic and athletic career.
Next is first baseman Jaxson Gregg who will be signing with Henderson State University, an NCAA Division II university. Jaxson now has one of the more memorable hits in program history with a walk-off grand slam against Neosho County to send the Saints to Wichita, KS for the Region VI/Plains District Tournament this past season. Gregg finished his second seaon with the Saints batting .330 for his career with a .467 on base percentage. Jaxson played in 109 games during his two years as a Saint and recorded more than a hit per game with 118 during his career while recording 37 extra base hits with 93 career RBIs. In the field Gregg was a solid defender with 481 putouts and 38 assists in 533 total chances. Jaxson does have his name in the record books as well as he has the Saints career record for hit-by-pitches with 31. Jaxson will now head to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to continue his academic and athletic career.
Lastly, Elijah Bear will be heading to the Southeast coast where he will attend Florida Memorial University an NAIA institution. Bear put himself in the top five of categories for single season Saints’ records during his one season in Liberal. Bear slugged 20 home runs and knocked in 80 runs as both marks rank 3rd in program history for a single season. Bear finished the season with 82 hits with 40 being for extra bases as he finished with a .387 batting average and a .463 on base percentage. Elijah will now head to Miami Gardens, FL to continue his academic and athletic career.
