Lewisville Parks and Recreation held a soft opening for Old Town Splash Park on May 26. It is located behind Wayne Frady Park at 535 W. College St.

In 2021, the department began the process of converting Old Town Aquatic Park from a swimming pool to a splash park for safety and efficiency reasons, city officials said. Public pools were forced to close on random days due to a lifeguard shortage. Since the splash park has shallow water, lifeguards are not required.

Old Town Splash Park features four splash zones and multiple shade structures. It operates on recirculated water, which prevents waste or loss of water through evaporation. Admission is free.

A grand opening for the splash park is scheduled for June 17. Old Town Splash Park will be open from May-September, weather permitting. 972-219-3550. www.playlewisville.com/facilities/aquatics/old-town-splash-park
