LEWISTON, ID - A 37-year-old Lewiston woman was arrested early Sunday morning for drug trafficking after a traffic stop and subsequent vehicle search revealed over 100 grams of methamphetamine and 97 fentanyl pills.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Big Country News Connection, an officer with the Lewiston Police Department was traveling northbound on Thain Grade at approximately 4:57 a.m. Sunday morning when he was nearly struck by an oncoming vehicle headed southbound. The officer reportedly had to swerve into the other lane to avoid a collision.

Following the incident the officer turned around and initiated a traffic stop where he made contact with the driver, who was then identified as 37-year-old Jennifer Kalinoski. According to the affidavit, while gathering requested documentation the officer observed a burnt piece of aluminum foil in her lap along with an almost completely burnt blue pill.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle officers reportedly located a marijuana cigarette tube in the front center cup holder which contained multiple blue bills inside identified as fentanyl. While continuing to search officers also located another plastic baggie containing multiple blue pills. In total, 97 pills of fentanyl were discovered.

A black lunchbox style bag was also located on the floorboard directly in front of the driver's seat, inside of which contained a large amount of white crystalline substance. The substance later tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine. After being weighed at the Lewiston Police Department it was determined to be approximately 105.8 grams.

Kalinoski, who denied that the pills and methamphetamine were hers, was taken into custody and booked into the Nez Perce County Jail for drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.

During an initial court appearance held Monday Judge Karin Seubert set bond for Kalinoski at $20,000.
