LEWISTON, ID - A 56-year-old Mead, WA is being charged with felony Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute after being arrested by Lewiston Police last week.

On Thursday, March 9, officers with the LPD responded to the Liberty Mart in north Lewiston for the report of an unwanted person. The worker had stated a man, who was later identified as 56-year-old Stephen Scott, was sleeping inside of his vehicle in the parking lot and were requesting he move along.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Big Country News Connection, officers responded and knocked on the window to awaken Scott. After making contact, an officer on the passenger side of the vehicle observed a clear hypodermic needle in the driver's side door.

After being asked to step out of the vehicle and being read his Miranda Rights, Scott reportedly admitted to using methamphetamines recently. When asked if there were any narcotics inside of the vehicle, Scott said yes.

While searching the vehicle and Scott's person, officers located two separate baggies of methamphetamine in his jacket pockets.

Inside of the vehicle officers then found two more ziplock bags containing methamphetamine, multiple used and unused ziplock bags, multiple used and unused hypodermic needles and two digital scales. In total, 20.8 grams of methamphetamine was seized. The hypodermic needles were destroyed.

Due to the narcotics being found in four separate baggies and the additional packing materials and digital scales, officers determined Scott had intent to distribute them.

Stephen Scott was charged with felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

During an arraignment held on April 12, Scott pleaded not guilty to both charges.Â
