A man is charged with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse after he was reported missing.

Anthony Andrew Snyder went missing Wednesday and was located hours later, according to a post from the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.

WECT reports Snyder, who was failing to appear in court for probation violation charges, went into a heavily wooded lot close to his home and was unable to find his way out.

Snyder was found hours later in a wooded, dense area and the sheriff's office said "the team was able to reach him and pull him out of the woods safely and without harm" using a utility task vehicle.

According to the sheriff's office, his two children were found living in the back of an abandoned car with no heat, air or facilities. The arrest warrant says that an electrical fryer was in the vehicle with a chewed up electrical cord plugged into power.
