The Utah teenager who had her pageant title revoked says she won’t be competing in any more pageants.

“Honestly, because of this experience, I’m not super interested in participating in any more pageants,” said Amanda Giraldi. “But it was nice of them to offer me the spot anyway.”

The Miss Utah Scholarship Organization had offered Giraldi a spot in the statewide Miss Utah competition, aftercontroversy erupted over her Miss Lehi Teen title being revoked just days after she won it.

Giraldi was also offered the scholarship that came with the win and an alternative title.

“I think, ultimately, I am not going to take the city title that they have created for me because it’s really not what I earned,” said Giraldi. “Even though it’s a kind offer, it’s just really not what I wanted.”

Giraldi told 2News she was most upset that pageant officials didn’t consider any of the alternatives that she and her parents proposed.

“I think what bothers me the most about it is that I had so many ideas I was presenting to them and I still don’t feel like anything I said was heard,” said Giraldi.

Giraldi had proposed keeping the Miss Lehi Teen title temporarily. She also proposed that she stay out of the statewide Miss Utah Teen competition and have the runner-up do it instead.

“My ultimate goal is to just make sure this doesn’t keep happening to other people so whatever we have to do to make sure of that is what we’re doing,” said Giraldi.

2News reached out to Miss Utah officials hoping for an interview. A spokesperson said that because it was pageant week in Utah, schedules were booked and no officials had time for interviews.
