The anticipation is building as the new Sonic Drive-In takes shape along Battlefield Parkway SE in Leesburg. And we have an update from the owner on when they are hoping to open for business.
The popular fast-food restaurant — famous for its burgers, shakes, tater tots, and other treats — is opening as part of the Oaklawn development at Miller Drive SE and Battlefield Parkway SE.
It’s been a long haul to this point, but for Sonic fans it will be worth the wait. The Burn first broke the news about Sonic looking at Leesburg back in 2019 and we confirmed the deal in late 2020.
Currently, the building is up and the awnings over the drive-in spots have been installed too. The asphalt in the parking lot is going down this week and landscaping is underway.
We spoke with owner and franchisee Kishan Chaniyara, who said they are planning on opening in mid-July. That’s just a month away, give or take.
