Two Leesburg brothers were arrested after a SWAT team showed up with search warrant at their home.
Officers this past week arrested 42-year-old Aaron M. Byrne and 53-year-old Jeffery Wayne Byrne at their residence at 1309 Maugans Ave.
As the officers removed Aaron Byrne from his room, they located his wallet next to a .22-caliber pistol and a digital scale with narcotics residue on the surface, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department They also found two baggies containing 76.1 grams of marijuana, a baggie containing cocaine and two baggies containing narcotics in Aaron Byrne’s room.
Aaron Byrne was booked at the Leesburg Police Department for possession of marijuana greater than 20 grams, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of possession of controlled substances. Aaron Byrne has been arrested for a number of charges including cocaine possession in 2015.
When he was transported to the Lake County Jail, Aaron Byrne was also served with an arrest warrant charging him with a theft of two chainsaws and two potted plants which allegedly occurred last year at a Lowe’s home improvement store in Mount Dora. That warrant indicated that the Lowe’s loss prevention manager had viewed a video which showed Aaron Byrne stealing the items. He was aided in that theft by his brother, who was sentenced to 270 days confinement in the Lake County Jail for that offense.
Jeffery Byrne was also arrested during the SWAT raid and has been charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $3,000.
Aaron Byrne posted $23,000 bond and has been released.
