Man, 73, dies after Leesburg traffic crash

LEESBURG, Fla. — A man died following a traffic crash along U.S. Highway 441 Wednesday morning in Leesburg.

Leesburg police said the crash happened shortly before noon at the intersection of Perkins Street.

Officers arrived at the crash site and determined that the driver of a Chevrolet sedan was traveling north on 441, attempting to turn left onto Perkins Street, when a southbound pickup truck collided with his car.

Police said the driver of the Chevy, David Reno, 73, of Leesburg, was rushed to a hospital but did not survive injuries caused by the crash.

The driver of the GMC pickup, Terrin Lawson, 22, and his 18-year-old passenger, both of Leesburg, were also taken to local hospitals.

Police did not release information on their conditions and said the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
