WESTWOOD, Kan. — One man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Thursday morning inside a parking garage at the University of Kansas Cancer Center in Westwood.

According to a news release, 94-year-old William J. Ward of Leawood, Kansas, was hit and killed in one of the cancer center’s parking garages on its Westwood campus just before 8 a.m.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says the driver left the crash scene but was eventually found and taken in for questioning.

Westwood Police Chief Curt Mansell described where the investigation is going.

“They will then turn their focus to identifying witnesses and anybody who saw it, and then start those interviews, and then we’ll also try and obtain any kind of video evidence or digital evidence that might be available in the parking garage,” Chief Mansell said.
