ALTUS, Okla. (KSWO) - Four Stars Toyota and the Altus City Animal Control are partnering for a free pet adoption event. The event will be held June 3 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Four Stars Toyota is covering all adoption fees to help the animals find their fur-ever homes.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - People driving down I-44 in the Lawton area on Thursday night and early Friday morning will see some closures. ODOT said both the eastbound and westbound lanes between Rogers Lane and Highway 36 will be intermittently closed and they note the area of the roadway actually runs more north and south.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Overnight look for temperatures to drop into the mid 60s under light southeast winds. Friday is going to be a warm and muggy day with air temperatures in the mid to upper 80s and dewpoints in the 60s. Hit or miss activity continues throughout the day but overall coverage will be low. Intensity of rain and coverage increase later in the night as a line of storms will move into Texoma. It’ll be in our western counties by 7PM, nearing Altus by 10PM and then I-44 just after midnight. The line will weaken as it moves east but this time the storm zone includes all of Texoma for isolated chance and better chances for severe storms west of highway-183. Hazards tomorrow include up to 60mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail. Expect rain totals between 1-3 inches with locally higher amounts possible. Some areas could pick up localized amount of 3 to 6 inches. While a flood watch is not in place currently, that may chance if confidence increases.

Testimony heard as two murder trials enter second day

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - We have seen showers and thunderstorms, some of which were strong, move through our area overnight, dropping heavy rainfall at times. Showers and storms are quickly pushing to our northeast, giving way to mostly cloudy skies this morning. The threat for an isolated shower or thunderstorm exists over the next several hours and into the early afternoon, as temperatures approach the low 80s for afternoon highs. Winds will be from the north turning east between 5 to 10mph.

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - A line of storms is currently knocking on the doorstep of our western counties. This line will continue to make it eastward trek over the next 6-8 hours. While it does appear that all hazards are possible (large hail, damaging winds, flooding and an isolated tornado) the biggest threat will be heavy rainfall over already saturated grounds leading to flash flooding concerns. The specific hazards will be 60 to 70mph wind gusts, quarter to golf ball sized hail and a very low tornado threat where a brief spin up is possible (mainly for western counties though). As mentioned, the heavy rainfall/ flash flooding concerns will continue. Many locations have seen over 2 inches of rainfall over the past 10 days. So with more rainfall on the way tonight (trending to see a widespread 1-3 inches from east to west) that will increase the flooding potential. Because of this threat, a flood watch is in place for much of Texoma until 7AM Saturday morning!
