LAWRENCE CO., Miss. (WLBT) - A Lawrence County school will cancel all classes and activities for Tuesday, December 5. Kelsey Lambert — Family and Community Engagement Specialist for the Lawrence County School District — says the decision was made because of plumbing issues and repairs at Monticello Elementary School.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Due to plumbing issues and repairs, Monticello Elementary School will cancel classes and activities for Tuesday, December 5. Officials said all other county schools, including Rod Paige Middle School and Lawrence County High School, will be open and operate on a regular schedule.

The burn ban in Lawrence County was lifted earlier today after storms saturated the area late Monday, Nov. 21. The ban had been in effect for several months because of extreme drought conditions. Fire officials remind property owners to practice safe burn methods and that they are responsible if their fire spreads to someone else’s property.
