On March 29, work crews arrived bright and early to begin the process of removing trees along the southern border of Russell Park. This is part of the process of creating a water detention area that will hold stormwater during times of heavy rain. The South 4th Street reconstruction project is part of the City of Laurel’s commitment to improve road conditions and stormwater drainage in the area. Officials say that the new construction will not interfere with the use of the park once work is done. They hope to have the project completed in September of 2023.
