A Laurel woman who was reported missing on Sunday has been safely located in Fairfax County, Va., Laurel Police Department said in a Facebook post.
"We are continuing our investigation into this matter and appreciate the public’s help thus far," the department said on Facebook.
On Monday, 7News spoke to 25-year-old Lauren Kingsbury's mother Tracy Goins who told us time was of the essence to find her daughter. When we spoke to Goins she told us it has been more than 72 hours since she’s heard from her daughter.
Video from a neighbor's security camera showed Lauren and her ex-girlfriend Brittany pulling into her condo, walking outside with Lauren's dog, then driving away together. The video is from last Friday, the last time they were seen.
“We saw them walking to get in the car and leave and Lauren was just disheveled and that is not Lauren. She was limping like she couldn’t keep up,” said Lauren’s father, Ricardo Kingsbury.
Her mother told 7News the two had been dating for over a year, recently breaking up. She assured her parents everything was fine until Friday when her texts went green, and they couldn’t reach her.
They went to Lauren’s home and called the police but couldn’t get inside.
“They told us we needed permission from the homeowner which was Lauren who was missing. It was illogical,” Goins said.
Her parents said a few weeks ago after the breakup, Brittany broke into her home for the first time, smashing her windows and slashing her tires.
“For me as a mom, I was the last to know everything. Every single moment for the last 48 hours I have been hearing new things,” Goins said.
The family was left with more questions than answers, clinging on to hope and sharing a message they hope the girls will hear.
“Brittany and Lauren. If you can't tell you are extremely and infinitely loved. So many people want you to return to your homes safely and sound,” Goins said.
