1 dead, 1 injured in southwest Las Vegas valley motorcycle crash

Update: The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as Roderick Juan, Jr., 32, of Las Vegas. The cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma with the manner being accidental.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A motorcyclist is dead following a crash in the southwest Las Vegas valley on Friday, police said.

Just before 6:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Jones Boulevard and West Badura Avenue, near Warm Springs Road after a report of a crash.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements showed that a Harley Davidson Road Glide was driving north on Jones at a high rate of speed when a Mazda MPV made a left turn at the intersection, into the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle crashed into the side of the Mazda, ejecting the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the vehicle had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The motorcyclist death marked the 54th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2024.
