A weather system is set to bring widespread showers and thunderstorms across much of Southern Nevada and northwest Arizona on Friday, and forecasters expect gusty winds to accompany the change.

By noon, rain is forecast to sweep through the valley, with the effects expected to persist into evening hours. 8 News Now received images of rain on the Las Vegas Strip, and even hail in the Skye Canyon area.

Storm impacts are expected to be minor, according to 8newsnow.com forecasters, primarily manifesting as slick roads. Rainfall is expected to reach 0.10 to 0.25 inches across the southern Nevada deserts, with higher accumulations of 0.25 to 0.50 inches anticipated in the elevated terrain of Clark and Mohave counties. In Lincoln County, rainfall totals may reach 0.30 to 0.75 inches.

Snow levels are expected to hover around 7500 feet, with upper portions of Kyle and Lee Canyons receiving a dusting of the cold stuff and a few inches for the upper peaks of the Spring Mountains.

Windy conditions are expected to persist into Sunday, with drier weather projected to return alongside a slow warming trend into next week. Temperatures are expected to climb from the 60s and 70s into the upper 80s and 90s as the week progresses.
