The Red Cross of Southern Nevada helped dozens of residents affected by home fires across the valley last month.
Along with the Disaster Action Team, the Red Crossed announced that they responded to 29 home fires in May, assisting 90 residents with their immediate needs.
Staff and volunteers responded to areas across Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Pahrump, ensuring residents had a safe place to stay.
“We think this past month illustrates how important these crisis teams are to our community,” said Rachel Flanigan, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter.
“They provide immediate compassion and care when displaced residents need it most.”

Flanigan added that the Red Cross is grateful for the support of volunteers, community, and generous donors. “Together they make it possible for us to provide hope and relief to victims of home fires and other disasters,” she said.
According to the Red Cross, home fires are the nation’s most frequent disaster and can leave a family devastated and in need of urgent assistance.
