As lawmakers in Carson City decided whether to vote in favor of a stadium bill that would fund a new stadium for the Oakland Athletics on the Las Vegas strip, concerns over parking will be on the top of many minds in Las Vegas.
During the first bill hearing on Memorial Day, presenters told lawmakers that the stadium would be the most walkable in the world. They detailed how they anticipate more than a third of stadium goers would walk from surrounding casinos and resorts.
The stadium would also be included in the Las Vegas Loop Expansion Project which county leaders voted in favor of earlier this month. The project would bring 18 additional stations and 25 miles of underground tunnels to the resort corridor.
Presenters also mentioned RTC would provide park and rides and bus services for locals. News 3 reached out to RTC for comment, and they sent us this statement.
As the public transportation provider and traffic manager for Southern Nevada, the RTC is committed to collaborating with all public and private partners to keep our community moving safely and efficiently. While it is too early to know exactly how we may adjust our transit service to accommodate a new ballpark, we look forward to working with everyone involved to support a smooth integration into our growing transportation infrastructure.- RTC CEO M.J. Lawmakers have until the end of the legislative session to vote on the bill.
