Brian Mendoza (22-2) has been on a roll.

The Las Vegas based Cuban-American has won three fights in a row since a unanimous decision loss against top prospect Jesus Ramos in 2021.

After picking a victory in a tune up bout, Mendoza surprised the boxing world with a knockout victory over former unified super welterweight champion Jeison “Banana” Rosario in November in a fight he took on short notice.

He followed up that win with an even more impressive performance. On April 8th, he pulled off a major upset when he stopped the highly regarded Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora, who had knocked out 4 of his previous 6 opponents.

With the victory, Mendoza became the interim WBC super welterweight champion.

However, Mendoza isn’t content to rest on his laurels and has stated that he wants to fight undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo next.

Charlo is recovering from an injury suffered in his training camp for his since canceled January showdown against Tim Tszyu.

Assuming Charlo defeats Tszyu when their bout is rescheduled, Mendoza hopes to get a crack at all of the division’s belts.

“That’s who I want next,” Mendoza told BoxingScene.com. “He’s the full champion and undisputed so of course I would love that fight. I’m here to make the best possible fights and my next goal is to become undisputed and clean out the entire 154 pound division. Everybody that knows me knows I stay in the gym so I want to return to action as soon as possible!”
