LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shared more information Tuesday evening following reports of a man who was stabbed and killed downtown on Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE: Police apprehend suspect in fatal downtown Las Vegas stabbing

Officers responded to the 1200 block of A Street, near Washington Avenue, at 3:46 p.m., where they say a Black man in his 50s was found suffering from stab wounds.

Lt. Jason Johansson with LVMPD's Homicide Section said police rendered first aid until additional medical personnel arrived and declared the man dead on scene.

According to police, two men were physically fighting in the area "for some time" before one stabbed the other.

Police are now looking for the assailant, whom they described as a Hispanic man, likely in his 40s.

Johansson said investigators reviewed surveillance footage and determine the man fled on foot southbound on A Street.

He is considered dangerous and armed with a knife.

LVMPD knows the man was wearing dark clothing, particularly a dark T-shirt and dark shorts. He also has tattoos.

The investigation is ongoing, and police advised people near the area to avoid the scene.

Police ask that anyone with information contacts their homicide department or Crime Stoppers of Nevada.
