Winner and STILL AEW International Champion: Orange Cassidy

Rating: ***1/2. Really entertaining battle royal once it got going, despite the funky ruleset to start. Lots of storylines continued and all of it made sense, and the stretch was tremendous here.

Match #2. Unsanctioned Match: Adam Cole w/ Roderick Strong & Sabu (?) vs. Chris Jericho w/ The Jericho Appreciation Society

Complete cluster to start, here. The JAS take out Roderick and Sabu as Sabu and Jericho duel chairs. Jim Ross loses it on commentary “HEY. HEY STUPID!” and a loud exhausted deep breath. Sabu awkwardly puts Menard through a table and then everyone else winds up in the back and it’s a one on one between Jericho and Cole now? Cole lowers the boom! Now Cole wraps the chain around his knee and lowers the boom one more time! Cole mounts him and delivers some ground and pound and Aubrey Edwards officially calls it off.

Winner: Adam Cole

Rating: **3/4. Wildly underwhelming. The “Sabu for the sake of Sabu” made no sense and I was giving them the benefit of the doubt to pay it off here, and they didn’t. Giant cluster in the beginning here, and it took the entire crowd out of the match. Cole and Jericho tried hard, but it was too much to overcome. Also, I think the world of Adam Cole, but those strikes at the end of the match were awful, and borderline laughable. If Cole could not throw the strikes convincingly, there were plenty of other way to end that match, Cole front choking Jericho with the chain, for example.

Winners and STILL AEW World Tag Team Champions: FTR

Rating: ***1/4. Memphis style booking, baby. This match started slow and the crowd is kind of.. well, kind of awful tonight. However, they were on their feet towards the end of this match and so far the spot of the night is Karen with the guitar. Take that for what it’s worth.

Alex Marvez is here with Ricky Starks. Starks gets jumped in the back by Bullet Club Gold again, just like last week. However, FTR sprint to the back and make the save.

Christian climbs up but Arn Anderson is here, and he tips the ladder as Christian falls right into the waiting arms of Wardlow, and right into a powerbomb! Wardlow climbs up and retrieves the title!

Winner and STILL AEW TNT Champion: Wardlow

Rating: ***3/4. This one started slow but they really worked their way to a heck of a match towards the end. Wardlow athletically is just a different breed of human, and Arn Anderson is the damn MVP of life.

Match #5. AEW World Women’s Championship: Jamie Hayter (c) vs. Toni Storm

Hayter’s music plays, but there’s no Hayter. Hayter finally shows up, but the Outcasts have beaten her from the locker all the way to the ramp. Storm dropkicks the injured shoulder into the steel steps and the match finally starts. It’s clear Hayter is hurt bad here, as Baker shows up and takes out Saraya. Hayter bumps Storm into referee Paul Turner, and there is apparently no turnbuckle pad here. Hayter hits the Haytebreaker but only gets a two count. Shida is here to take out Ruby Soho now. Hayterade but Hayter uses the bad shoulder. Two count. Storm sends Hayter into the exposed buckle again and hits Storm Zero. This one is over.

Winner and NEW AEW Women’s World Champion: Toni Storm

Rating: NR. This was a bunch of hullabaloo to mask Hayter’s very legitimate injury, so the ends justify the means.

Matthews tries to get in the ring but eats a Fameasser through the middle rope but Daddy Ass turns around RIGHT INTO the Black Mass and this one is over.

Winners and STILL AEW Trios Champions: House of Black

Rating: ***. Kind of odd pacing here with Bowens being in the match in peril for roughly 70%, but all of these guys can wrestle and it showed. Great to see the House of Black on the run they’re having, and Billy Gunn can take all the pins and it’ll never matter.

Rating: ****1/2. One heck of a fatal four-way match, maybe the best I’ve ever seen. The action was non-stop, the stories told in the ring made sense, it didn’t follow the traditional multi-man match formula, and it had me at every turn. I never thought MJF would love the belt, until the match started, and they hooked me. MJF is a clever bad guy, and it was highlighted in the end of this match. Sammy was a feel-good story, and they all got a chance to shine. Massive win for all guys here.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club

Rating: *****. I’m judging this solely on my level of entertainment throughout. Not on the selling, the moves, the storyline, just solely how entertained I was throughout the entire match. And that is what earned the full Daddy Meltzer here. This match was madness from the start, it was fun, it was brutal, and nobody in the arena was in their seat. The best Anarchy in the Arena match we’ve ever seen, with eight of the best pro wrestlers in the world.

After the match, Callis is strangling Omega with his belt! The BCC stand tall over a fallen Kenny Omega as Claudio puts Yuta on his shoulders.

Final Thoughts: This show started off.. okay. The Cole and Jericho match REALLY disappointed me because I had such high expectations, and that bummed me out. However, it rebounded with some solid stuff in the middle and ended with two fantastically different, awesome, pro wrestling matches. Kris Statlander returning was a great surprise, the four way for the title was great pro wrestling, and the main event was just madness. There was nothing “bad” on this show and it sure as heck didn’t feel like four hours. Easy thumbs up for me. 8.75/10.
