A driver is dead after crashing into a pole on a freeway ramp in Las Vegas Friday morning, according to authorities.
The collision was reported just after 3:45 a.m. on May 26 at the southbound U.S. 95 off-ramp at Jones Boulevard, Trooper Ashlee Wellman with Nevada State Police said in an email.

According to the investigation, a silver Kia Optima was traveling southbound at a high speed when it failed to move on the curve and ran off the left roadway edge.
The Kia’s left side struck a light pole causing the vehicle to separate into multiple pieces.
The driver was identified as 39-year-old Las Vegas man Jonathan Brenha Rosa.
He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This marks the 33rd deadly crash under Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Southern Command’s jurisdiction this year, resulting in 37 fatalities.
