42 new officers graduate from police academy

Local police officers celebrated the growth of their law enforcement family.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) welcomed 42 new officers during their graduation ceremony on Wednesday.

Sheriff Kevin McMahill handed recruits their badges and joined in honoring their accomplishments.
The 37 men and five women began the LVMPD Academy in November of 2022.
Five graduates were born out of the country in China, the Philippines, Mexico, and Taiwan.
Nineteen of the graduates speak multiple languages.
