An 81-year-old man is dead days after a crash near Hacienda Avenue and Pecos Road.
On Wednesday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Fatal Detail was notified of a delayed traffic-related fatality.
The fatal crash happened on March 16, at approximately 1:31 p.m., at the intersection of Hacienda Avenue and Pecos Road.
According to investigators, a 2012 Toyota Highlander was traveling northbound on Pecos Road in the third through travel lane approaching the intersection of Hacienda Avenue. A 2007 Hyundai Entourage was traveling southbound on Pecos road in the dedicated left turn lane to make an eastbound turn onto Hacienda Avenue.
The crash happened when the Toyota's driver failed to stop for a red traffic signal and impacted the Hyundai in the intersection.
LVMPD said the driver of the Toyota was transported to Sunrise Hospital by ambulance with injuries determined to be non-life-threatening by medical staff at the time.
Two juvenile passengers of the Hyundai were transported to Sunrise Hospital by ambulance for claimed injuries. The Hyundai driver remained on the scene with claimed injuries and showed no signs of impairment.
On Wednesday, the LVMPD Fatal Detail was notified by the Clark County Office of the Coroner Medical Examiner that the Toyota's driver had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital on Tuesday.
The driver's death marks the 27th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2023.
This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
