A pedestrian is dead following an early morning crash in Henderson Wednesday.
The City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded around 2:08 am to the area of South Boulder Highway and Horizon Drive in reference to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Responding officers located an injured pedestrian, who was transported to Sunrise Trauma and pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to police, a white 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northbound on Boulder Highway between Equestrian Drive and Horizon Drive when the pedestrian, who was wearing all dark clothing and was walking outside a marked crosswalk, was stuck in the roadway.
Investigators say they could not identify the 40 to 50-year-old male pedestrian at the scene. Impairment and speed were not considered factors in this incident.
Traffic on northbound Boulder Highway was closed for approximately 3 hours while an investigation was conducted, and had since reopened.
The collision is being investigated as the first accident-related fatality for Henderson in 2023.
The crash remains under investigation.
